EVERY year many hedgehogs are killed during the Guy Fawkes night celebrations.
Please check any bonfire thoroughly for hedgehogs before setting light to it, if possible it should be moved to a different site on the day it is to be burned. If not, thoroughly check the base of the fire, broom handles can be used to lever the bonfire up, and a torch can be shone in for any signs of life.
If you do discover a hog, pick it up with gardening gloves, and put it in a box somewhere safe for the duration of the festivities. It can be released after the fire is completely out.
