YOUNGSTERS from The Haulgh have completed a life skills training course.
Outreach workers from Bolton Lads' and Girls' Club went out on to the streets of the area during the summer to recruit young people to take part in a peer mentoring course, organised by The Haulgh Community Partnership.
The 12-week project, supported by the Children's Fund, saw the team of 25 teenagers attend sessions at Bolton Lads' and Girls' Club, Spa Road, on Wednesdays to learn about sexual health, how to deal with bullying and communication skills. On Thursdays, the teenagers enjoyed leisure activities including go-carting and skiing. Simon Delamar, project worker with the Lads' and Girls' Club, said: "The entire project was a great success and the group worked well together."
The course members met at Mere Hall, Halliwell, to receive their certificates and to be congratulated on their achievement by Supt Alan Greene from Greater Manchester police and Laura Nuttall, senior board member from Bolton Lads' and Girls' Club.
