I READ the letter from Mr David Kemp (Oct 9) with great interest, as I am always open to differing opinions.
I have to say, though, that I don't liken everyone that I oppose or dislike to Hitler, that would be absurd. I liken Saddam to Hitler because, in my opinion, he has the same grand notions of himself and is equally dangerous.
Saddam may not have a powerful army, as Hitler did, but he does have weapons of mass destruction. Something, thank God, that Hitler did not have when he was in power. The use of these weapons could result in thousands of civilian deaths. In my opinion, once Saddam obtains nuclear capabilities, he will not hesitate to threaten his neighbours and anyone else he considers an "enemy".
Of course, he cannot take on the US and win a traditional war, however, the use of chemical and biological weapons would not make it a "traditional war". If he is allowed to continue on the path that he is apparently determined to stay on, the US is likely to have many more of the horrendous types of attacks that we experienced on September 11. Something that the US is not willing to tolerate.
