YOUNGSTERS are being invited to get out their glue, scissors and glitter to help create a sculpture to be displayed on Bolton's Victoria Square.
A large butterfly lantern will be created at the special sculpture event, which will take place this Friday, led by Kate Murphy, a fine art sculpture student at Loughborough University.
Miss Murphy was part of the Commonwealth Games lantern making team who made designs of large religious buildings and religious icons for the opening ceremony.
The project has been organised by Bolton Council's Commercial Services Department and will take place at Animal World, in Moss Bank Park, between 10am and 3.30pm.
The morning sessions are already fully booked with enthusiastic youngsters, but places are still available between 1pm and 3.30pm.
The finished lantern will go on display in the square on November 21.
Labour councillor Donald Grime, Bolton Council's Executive Member for Direct Services, said: "Everyone was really impressed at the skills shown by Kate and the rest of the lantern making team at the Commonwealth Games."
