Westhoughton Lions U13s 26
Culceth Eagles U13s 4
THE 10-man Lions side went ahead through Stephen Kenny, whose brilliant individual try bagged him the Golden Moment award. He also scored a further two tries later on in the game.
Top Tackler Tony Eaton added three tries while Man of the Match was Jonathan Evans.
Langworthy Reds U10s 24
Westhoughton Lions U10s 50
THE Lions ran in tries almost at will. In all, ten were scored including three each from Matthew Crow and Matthew Veal, and a brace from Alex Davidson. Despite such a good performance Langworthy's number of scores was rather alarming.
Portico U8s 40
Westhoughton Lions U8s 32
JAMIE Cloran scored five tries for Lions in this attacking game, with Thomas Wright adding two more. The Westhoughton side were unlucky to lose a game that could have gone either way, with Dominic Quinn close to a winner.
Leigh Miners Rangers 18
Ince Rosebridge 0
An excellent all round performance saw Rangers earn a hard fought victory against Ince. S Marsh scored a great solo try, and slick passing saw Nicholson go in for the second. Both were converted by Youds, who in the second half scored and converted to finish the scoring.
THE cold weather may have been responsible for both teams showing more enthusiasm running forward with the ball than defending today. This was reflected in the high score. "Man of the Match" Jamie Cloran was able to run
in 5 Tries for the Lions, with "Coaches Award" winner Thomas Wright (2 Tries) and Stephen Haydock completing the tally of eight. Poor tackling was again the culprit for the Lions' defeat, but certainly not from "Top Tackler" Jacob Hartwell, playing in his first game for the team. Only a few missed chances accounted for the difference in scoreline, perhaps the closest being from "Most improved player" Dominic Quinn being tackled inches from the line after a fine run and lay-off from acting halfback Tom Price.
Derby victory for Seconds
