BOTH the John Smiths Farnworth and the Halliwell Winter Rounders Leagues are headed by Darcy teams after Sundays' matches.

In the Farnworth League Hanson came close to altering that situation, and were seven runs ahead of Darcy after the first innings, but they failed to maintain their advantage and Darcy turned the tables to win by 11.

Mytham Ladies are in joint second place with Siddons, to whom they lost, and Adlington comfortable winners over Imago.

Tonge Fold XI picked up their first points in Section A, when Royal Hotel conceded. Having failed to field a team in the first three weeks of the season Royal Hotel have withdrawn, and another team will be invited to fill the resulting vacancy.

Capital and The Volunteer head the Section B table with three victories each. The Grapes are clear in third place after their seven run win over Tonge Moor Conservative Club, while Carl Chapman got off the mark by building on a 15 run interval lead to beat Advance Computer Systems by 50.

In the Halliwell League, a depleted Bolton Lads & Girls Club struggled as they lost by 103 to leaders Darcy XI.

Morris Roofing pulled back the 70 run start given to Hulton Lane Ladies to level the scores at the break. Hulton fared better in the second innings, but lost an enjoyable game by 58 runs.

Westhoughton & District maintained their perfect record with a 93 run winning margin over Lower Pools, just one run short of hitting double their opponents score.

Smithills Coaching House had a 20 run start against Farmers XI, and after the first innings the scores were level at 68 each. With no handicap to help them in the second innings, Smithills pulled out all the stops to out score

their opponents by 21 runs and take both points.

Boundary Ladies picked up their first points of the campaign by beating Cheetham Ladies 153-124, and Pineapple XI did likewise with a 61 run win over Hampsons XI whose players include some just coming into the game and keen to learn.
