Rivington 0, Old Blackburnians 2
AFTER the dramatic victory against Radcliffe the previous week Old Rivingtonians crashed to a home defeat against fellow strugglers Old Blackburnians.
For the first time this season Rivington stared a game with the same team from the week previous buoyed by their first league win.
Within minutes from the start, Rivington found themselves one goal down due to poor passing which allowed Blackburnians to take the lead.
This failed to galvanise Rivington into any response and it was no surprise that Blackburnians doubled the lead with a header midway through the first half.
It was difficult to believe that was the same team that had so convincingly won the week before.
The second half produced a far more committed performance with Andy Mason, and substitute Danny Purnell driving forward at any opportunity.
Mason came closest to scoring when he hit the bar from a free kick. But that was the sum total of their efforts.
In the Lancashire Amateur League Division One Horwich RMI claimed a 2-0 win over Accrington Ams.
The home side went ahead in the first half through Matt Harwood.
Gary Walsh added a second with his head from a Craig Morris cross.
Horwich second team beat Chorley Motors 3-2.
