Mixed success for school sides
BOLTON Under 15s slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Sefton in their Northern Merit League match at Sharples School.
The youngsters suffered an early setback when the visitors took the lead after just two minutes and Sefton added their second just before the break.
Bolton bounced back after the interval and they almost equalised when Joe Whittaker, of Mount St. Joseph's, shot just wide of the upright.
Billy McGuinness, Turton, also went close but the Merseysiders held out to clinch a 2-0 win in a tough, physical game.
Bury Under 15s' five-match winning run came to an end when they went down 1-0 to Blackburn in their challenge match at Plessington.
The home side had the better of the early exchanges and went in front after with the game only ten minutes old.
But Bury almost equalised after the break when Aaron Beetson crashed a shot against the bar.
Bury dominated the second half in terms of possession but failed to create any real chances and Blackburn held on to clinch a narrow 1-0 win.
Bolton Under 14s beat Tameside 3-2 in their Greater Manchester Schools' League match at Hacken Lane.
All the goals came in the second half with Bolton racing into a 3-0 lead before Tameside staged a late, dramatic comeback with two goals in the last 12 minutes.
