GALLAGHERS won their first league point in the BSF Ladies Hockey League when they held Nomads to a goalless draw.
Nomads, recently relegated from Section A, had most of the play but struggled against resolute defending by Jackie Mather and Jenny Strong.
Nomads have introduced some young new players, but it may be some time before they become a cohesive unit.
Following three heavy defeats in a row, Roydon Ladies came good when they completely outplayed Elton firsts to win 4-0 with Bernadette Sumner scoring a hat-trick.
County Ladies beat St James 2-1 in the Davenport Cup but it could have been so different had their goalkeeper Chris Daniels not made a splendid last minute save with her stick. For St James Julie Barnett was magnificent and the County goals came in identical fashion with a cross by Kelly Webber to Alison Howarth who knocked the ball wide of the goalkeeper.
