EVERY year a dozen or so members of Great Lever AC have a weeks mini festival fishing over on the Emerald Isle.
But unlike most they do not opt for the popular southern waters, instead their ventures takes them to the little known hotspots of Northern Ireland.
They have just come back from fishing a series of matches on the Lower Bann in County Antrim and all have had an unbelievable week with 100lbs of bream and skimmers available in most pegs, most days and each angler averaged 350lbs over the week.
George Grundy, organiser of the trip says: "It's almost impossible to peg 12 anglers in a row on southern waters, so we decided to try up north and this has been the best week yet."
The club get back down to earth this weekend when they hold an Open Match on Sunday on the canal with the draw being held at 9.0am on Feniscowles Bridge. Fishing is from 10am until 3pm and the entrance fee is £10 all inclusive. Bloodworm is banned but pike are allowed. To book on ring Dave Hanson on 0161 761 7441.
