THE series of earthquakes that has rocked Greater Manchester over three days could have caused a crack that forced the closure of a busy motorway.
Police said the crack stretched the width of the A6144(M) Carrington Spur, which joins the M60 west of Manchester.
The mile-long stretch was closed to traffic as engineers began repair work which is expected to take several days.
