A BUILDING society's charity trust has bought an electric scooter to help struggling shoppers in Leigh.
The Abbey National Charitable Trust Ltd's Morag Hoyland handed over a donation of £1,500 to The Friends of Shopmobility at Leigh's Spinning Gate Centre for the purchase of a scooter for disabled and other shoppers who find it difficult to get around.
On behalf of Shopmobility, Garry Kay, chairman of the Friends, said: "This type of support is crucial to our scheme and we would welcome help from other firms. People of all ages benefit from the use of our scooters and many people would be housebound if Shopmobility ceased to exist."
