A NEW production aimed directly at teenagers is being premiered by The Octagon Theatre's youth Activ8 department.
The theatre has commissioned Debbie Oates to write a play taking a look at the attitudes of young people to conception, pregnancy and young parenting.
"Score" is a gritty, realistic and humorous play set in the car park of a motorway service station where four male teenagers, fuelled with bravado, swap their tales of sex, girls and scoring. But what begins as high energy excitement from a night out soon turns into a dark exploration of relationships and of emerging sexual awareness and its consequences.
The production premiers tonight at The Octagon Theatre and runs until Saturday. It will then tour secondary schools, community groups and theatres across the North-west from Monday until November 23.
"Score" has been undertaken by The Octagon's Activ8 department as part of its new drive to increase the amount of theatre-in-education work produced by the company.
The production will be directed by Sue Reddish, associate director at The Octagon.
"Score" has been funded and developed by the NHS Teenage Pregnancy Strategy, Bolton Primary Care Trust and the New Opportunities Vision for Healthy Bolton.
Tickets, £7 and £4.50 concessions, are from 520661.
