AN AWARD-winning deputy headteacher has a nervous few days before he finds out if he has scooped a prestigious national prize.
Brian Souter, who teaches at Southlands High School, Clover Road, Chorley, is up for the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BT Teacher Awards.
Mr Souter and his wife Myra will attend the glittering ceremony at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London, on Sunday.
If he is victorious he will win £25,000 for Southlands. The ceremony, broadcast on BBC1 on November 3, aims to acknowledge the role teachers play in children's lives.
In September Mr Souter won the regional North West Award for Lifetime Achievement -- scooping £2,000 for his school and a £500 bursary which he donated to the training of teachers at Southlands.
Mr Souter said: "I'm looking forward to it. We don't know the results before they're announced so it should be exciting."
