AFTER the success of his Punk Jubilee back in May this year, Bolton's answer to Johnny Rotten, Vic Gilmore, leads another punk revolution this weekend with the launch of the first Internet punk radio station. And what better way to kick off than with some loud music?
Back once again at St Gregory's Social Club, (more famously known as The Phoenix Club in Peter Kay's comedy series) Gilmore will be presenting a celebration of Punk from 1976 to 1979 including a live performance from Punk outfit LoVe BatTery.
The band, which features Gilmore on vocals and female vocalist Joanne Slater, will perform tracks by the Sex Pistols, Damned, the Clash, The Ramones, Siouxsie & The Banshees and X-Ray Spex.
Clearly punk is alive and well if the reaction to the recent Punk Jubilee is anything to go by - the night was a complete sell out. Tickets for this event are available from Small Talk, Booths and X Records, and doors open from 7pm until midnight. So root out your bondage pants and your safety pins - Punk hasn't finished with you yet.
