Review of the news of the week:

SATURDAY

PER Frandsen is resigned to his international career with Denmark being finished. "The national team is all over for me now after not going to the World Cup," says the Reebok midfielder. "I'm just working as hard as ever for Bolton." Paul Warhurst backs Jay Jay Okocha to make it big in the Premiership. "He has all the ability and ingredients to be a special player for Bolton," he adds in admiration of the Nigerian's talent.

MONDAY

SLOVENIA'S World Cup striker Milan Osterc, a free agent after being released from his contract by Hapoel Tel Aviv, arrives at the Reebok for a trial. Dean Crombie rejoins the Wanderers' backroom team as academy recruitment officer.

TUESDAY

AS Manchester United skipper Roy Keane is being handed a five-match ban and £150,000 fine by an FA disciplinary committee sitting at the Reebok, Wanderers' midfielder Stig Tofting is being sentenced to four months' jail by a Copenhagen court after admitting assault charges at the city's Cafe Ketchup.

WEDNESDAY

A DAY after receiving his jail term and still considering his appeal, Tofting plays for Wanderers Reserves in the 3-1 defeat by Leeds at Bury. Earlier in the day, Wanderers say they are reviewing their position in the light of the player's conviction. Paul Warhurst and Ricardo Gardner come through the reserve game showing no reaction to their injury problems.

THURSDAY

CARL Brown cuts short his coaching role at the Reebok to take up his position as technical director of the Jamaican FA earlier than expected.

FRIDAY

SAM Allardyce voices his sympathy for Stig Tofting, saying: "I find it strange that he got taken to court in the first place," the manager says. But he refuses to speculate how the player will be dealt with by the club.
