WELL folks , that's it -- I'm officially a member of So Solid Crew. Just call me MC Vernon!

The band insisted I sign my name, along with theirs, on a celebrity board at this week's Q Awards so I'm now part of the crew. Don't hold your breath waiting for a record though.

The awards were fantastic and I had a good chat with Tom Jones who turned out to be a really nice bloke, very down to earth.

He was there to accept his Q Merit Award and, from talking to him, you could tell he was really pleased to get it.

The Hives were also there performing live and they were absolutely fantastic. Funnily enough they got Best Live Act Award -- well deserved -- and the boys told me they were looking forward to their next big tour. Get to see them if you get the chance -- they're amazing live.

Talking of live gigs, how great is it that Peter Kay (no, he is not my cousin/uncle etc) is doing three nights in Bolton?

I've got to get up and see one of the shows. The man is a genius and to see him perform in Bolton would be brilliant.

Anyway, back to the Q Awards. I got talking to one of the best blokes in music -- Ian McCullough from Echo and The Bunnymen who won, I might add, the Inspiration Award.

He asked me to go and see Bolton Wanderers play Liverpool at Anfield but I told him I'd hate to see a friend upset in defeat, so I declined!

Electric Soft Parade won Best Newcomers although, personally, I thought The Coral should have won it.

At T4 this week we've got Craig David on the show and also Vinnie Jones, so it should be an interesting programme.

And what about the Christmas Lights then? Honestly I am made up to be switching them on and I hope you'll all come along and watch.

See you next week.
