AN author has turned the page on a new career with the help of Business Link North Manchester's Bury office.
Raja Miah has been equipped with the skills of marketing and promotion which will help sustain him in his new role.
Raja, who has just published his first novel Sons of Jabir, undertook a business start-up course at Link House, Bury, aimed at those from the ethnic community.
He said: "I found the course extremely informative as it included various business topics such as marketing, promotion and book keeping.
"I went there just before my book was published and I found it really useful."
The start-up course attracted many ethnic minority business people from Bury and further afield.
Raja comes from Rochdale but was more than happy to travel down the road to take part in the training.
His book chronicles the lives of three Asian brothers in the Rochdale area and the western influences which leaves their father wishing he had never left Bangladesh because none of his sons remained true Muslims.
Raja was born in 1974, coming to England with his family at the age of four. He is currently a drama student.
* Sons of Jabir is published by Hyena Press and is currently on sale at £7.99.
