WITH reference to Mr Dicker's letter and subsequent article about traffic calming proposals on Aintree Road and Redcar Road, Little Lever.
May I ask Mr Dicker, as he lives on York Avenue, a very quiet cul-de-sac, how does he know what is needed or not needed on the above roads?
I have lived on Redcar Road since 1966 and what was once a very quiet and little used road has become very busy and, at times, a race track. My neighbours and I would welcome these proposals, not only for our families' safety but for the safety of children using our road to get to St Theresa's, St Matthew's, Bowness and Little Lever Schools.
So I say to Mr Dicker -- what price a classic car when a child could be hurt or, worse, killed? He could always use Lincoln Avenue, in which case he would only have to negotiate one flat-topped hump.
I would also say to John Evans, Head of Highway Management, Bolton Metro -- please, please go ahead with these proposals, for the sake of the residents of Redcar Road who are in agreement with them.
Mr J M Rigby
