TWO Euro MPs were appearing in court today charged with possessing cannabis.
North West Liberal Democrat MEP Chris Davies and Italian MEP Marco Cappato were due to appear at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court for a plea and directions hearing.
The pair were arrested within days of each other last December during a protest about cannabis laws outside Stockport police station, Stockport, Greater Manchester.
Mr Davies has called for the changes to the law to decriminalise cannabis. Milan-born Mr Cappato, 30, is a member of Italy's Radical Party and was in Stockport to support calls for changes to the law in the UK.
