REGARDING the story about poor standards of care that some patients with diabetes have received, I must say that the exact opposite has happened in my case.
In February I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Within the first week I was seen in a group by an expert iwho explained fully my illness and the complications I might experience throughout my life.
I have had regular check-ups from specialists in the eye, feet, and dietary departments who have been most helpful in giving me the facts of my condition.
All this has given me a deeper understanding of diabetes and given me the confidence to accept and live as normal a life as possible with this illness.
All in all, an excellent service provided by the NHS.
