LOCAL STAR: Peter Kay's shows are a sell-out

CAN anyone tell me what the knack is to getting Peter Kay tickets at a fair price? I have been trying -- and failing miserably -- for the last few months to get my hands on four tickets for any venue in the North-west.

I'd all but given up, but was thrilled to find the announcement in your paper on Friday, October 18, about the release of tickets for the extra dates. I was on the phone like a shot, only to be told the dates hadn't been confirmed and I'd have to try again on Monday.

A full night shift on Sunday didn't stop me getting on the phone at 10am Monday morning, only to be met by the bog standard "there is currently a high demand for this destination, please try later" message. Several tiring hours later, still no joy, so I reluctantly returned to work to be advised by a colleague that all tickets had sold out!

I have placed adverts at my place of work for any available tickets and some kind soul told me of an extra date added to the Blackpool dates. I was straight on the phone but again, too late, it was sold out!

Then I thought my prayers had been answered when I found someone selling two tickets for April 1 at Bolton -- fantastic, I thought. I was on the phone straight away and the reply was: "I'll sell you the tickets, but the asking price is £40 per ticket."

Some may think I'm foolish, but I've refused the tickets at that price. As much as I'm a fan of Peter Kay and would love to see him, I refuse to line the pockets of someone who managed to get through and bought more tickets than they wanted, therefore depriving the true fans of a chance to see him.

I'm sure Peter Kay, who is obviously proud of his working class roots, would be disgusted to hear that people are making money at the expense of his true fans.
