JOANNE Slater became Jo Slaughter when she took centre stage at a punk tribute night.
Joanne, aged 24, from Bury who works for a public relations firm in Manchester during the day, wowed about 200 punk fans when she performed as her alter ego Jo Slaughter with punk tribute band Love BatTery at St Gregory's Social Club in Farnworth. Joanne from Tottington, belted out punk classics dating from between 1976 and 79, including cover versions of tracks by The Damned and the Runaways.
She said: "Punk audiences are more into the music. You've got to be quite convincing. They want to hear the songs which they remember but they want them to be good."
The band got a good reaction from the crowd with many people turning up sporting Mohican haircut and nose piercings.
