BOLTON Parish Church will once again play host to The Brixi Singers on Saturday, November 9, when members present their Winter- Concert.
The choir will be conducted by guest conductor Philip Duffy, who gained a good reputation as the founder director of music at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral and is now a lecturer at Hope University College, Liverpool.
Richard Lea, the Brixi Singers' regular conductor, will accompany on the church organ.
The choir will perform two contrasting works by twentieth century composers -- Requiem by Maurice Durufle, written in memory of his father, and Rejoice in the Lamb by Benjamin Britten, with the words taken from a poem by Christopher Smart.
Rejoice in the Lamb will be performed using soloists from the choir who take on various parts, including a cat and a mouse, to express the worship of God by all beings and things.
Soloists are Wendy Henshaw, Eleanor Hill, Alison Thompson, David Clayton and David Griffiths. The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets, £6 and £5 concessions, will be available on the door in in advance from 01204 407234.
