CHORLEY Borough Council has won praise in a survey.

An independent team of experts from the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) gave the council a frank assessment.

The team, describing themselves as 'critical friends', said the council was ambitious, enthusiastically championed Chorley and applauded the electoral pilot of postal votes which produced the highest turnout anywhere in the country at the local elections. It also commended its loyal workforce and its accessible and hard-working councillors.

But the team said communication internally and with the public could improve and said the council needed to enhance public interest and involvement.
