FOUR Bolton firefighters were among 17 to be presented with long service awards for completing 20 years exemplary service with the fire brigade.
Gary Thistlethwaite, from Breightmet, works at Bury station. In 1988, Gary was commended for his actions when he saved a woman from a serious house fire in Ainsworth Lane while he was off duty.
Neil Harrison, who lives in Over Hulton, began his career at Stretford station and now fights fire from the Farnworth base.
Stephen Smith, from Egerton, has previously worked at Salford and Bolton stations and is now based at Bolton North.
Wictor Kopicki, from Kearsley, has served his entire career at Eccles station.
The men were presented with their long service awards along with Good Conduct Medals by deputy Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Warren J Smith esq.
