A FIRM that manufactures anti-skid road surfacing is creating 40 jobs at a new factory in Chorley.
Prismo Product Services, part of the Jarvis group, is setting up a £3.5 million, six-acre site on Chorley North Industrial Park.
The development is being heralded as a major step forward for the town. It will secure 40 jobs and new laboratories and manufacturing operations are currently being installed at the site.
The firm are the UK market leader in their field and have worked on roads in Australia, the US, Turkey and Saudi Arabia and here on the M4 bus lane and pavements in the Eden Project, Cornwall.
Managing director Chris Kenyon said: "We are creating employment in Chorley and guaranteeing the future for our business in the town.
"Chorley is an ideal site to take Prismo forward. It'll be the biggest facility in Europe of this type and is light years ahead of anything else."
The company has taken over Zebraflex, based in Quarry Road Industrial Estate, Chorley, and will be shifting the 20 workers from there to the new site.
A number of new jobs will be created, as well as current workers from elsewhere in the UK moving to the town.
Lindsay Hoyle MP said: "This is good for the borough. Not only does it retain jobs in Chorley it expands the number of jobs. The company goes from strength to strength and is also saving lives on the roads."
