A SHORTLIST of local celebrities has been drawn up as plans are launched for a five-year cultural strategy in Chorley.
Residents are being asked who most reflects Chorley's cultural life from:
James Walsh -- Chorley born lead singer with award winning band Star Sailor.
Steve Pemberton -- Euxton actor in BBC comedy The League of Gentlemen.
Amanda Roocroft -- opera singer from Adlington.
Jason Queally -- Olympic cycling champion who lives in Withnell.
Nick Dogherty -- top young golfer from Whittle-le-Woods.
Jeannette Brakewell -- Brindle's Olympic equestrian.
David Unsworth -- Chorley's Everton soccer star.
Dave Spikey -- actor/comedian from Clayton.
Rick Guard -- Chorley pop artist.
Bill Beaumont -- Chorley's former England rugby union team captain.
Kevin Simm -- Liberty X group singer from Abbey Village.
Judy Merry -- radio presenter of Withnell.
The draft cultural strategy, currently under consultation, will be ready in January for its launch date. The council meanwhile wants to know which celebrity the public thinks most reflects Chorley cultural life.
Councillor Cath Hoyle said: "We're looking for someone who best represents Chorley's image. Many of the celebrities started off locally by taking an interest in sports and the arts through a local club or society.
"It is these opportunities that our cultural strategy is promoting."
Residents will have a chance to vote for their favourite on the council's website www.chorley.gov.uk
The poll runs until December 5 and the full cultural strategy will be available for comments until then.
