YOUNGSTERS will have a chance to become bookworms thanks to two new school libraries.
The £13,000 libraries have been built at St George's Primary School in Westhoughton, with the junior section being dedicated to the father of deputy head James Royal.
Mr Royal officially opened the library named the Gerald Royal Reading Room as a tribute to his father who died suddenly 12 months ago.
A total of £10,000 has been spent on new books and a computerised cataloguing system that allows youngsters to scan their books in and out of the library and allows the teachers to monitor closely their reading habits.
Head teacher Simon Bramwell, said: "We have many enthusiastic and able readers and we believe that a love of reading is a key ingredient in improving the quality of writing and spelling."
