A CAT-ASTROPHE is looming for a feline charity because people are unwilling to adopt adult moggies.

'Cats in Leyland Aid and Welfare Society' (CLAWS) cannot house adult cats in Chorley because people only want to adopt kittens.

Nicky Rollinson, who runs the charity, said: "Nobody wants them, everybody wants kittens. But cats need homes too." CLAWS takes on cats when they have been abandoned or people are unable to look after them.

But there are now 15 cats ready to be adopted with 30 on the charity's waiting list.

The charity does not let cats be put down, but the backlog means its fosterers are unable to help other cats in need.
