THE WEATHER tore apart the League fixtures on Sunday with more than half of the matches being postponed due to poor pitch conditions.
The weather, however, no doubt played a part in the most unusual goal of the day when the goalkeeper for Marauders U18a took a drop kick and with the assistance of the wind managed to get his name on the score sheet.
Marauders led 2-1 until the dying seconds of the match when Heywood St James equalised with the final kick of the match.
The result of the day was Westbury's 2-0 win against Woodbank U15 both goals coming from Adam Ellis.
In U15 Division Two David Taylor bagged four , Andy Richardson two and Phil Donnelly two for Elton Fold. Mike Walker three and Liam Kilgariff two giving Moorside the points against Drinkwater. In the game between Unsworth and Westhoughton Rangers Luke Smith hit a 30 yard free kick into the top corner and the outstanding Mike Lynch crossed for Brendan Cranshaw to head home the winner in a game played in the right spirit. All those taking part (including spectators are to be commended.
Under 16 Division One saw the top two teams meeting and both sides went into half-time 0-0 .
Straight from the kick off Johnny Monson hit the woodwork for Langley Rangers before Carl Dempsey put them in front with 20 mins to go. With one min left Mark Brandnick of Heyside had a superb shot saved by the Langley keeper.
