Young striker is still a way off a serious first team challenge

DELROY Facey has begun the long road back to fitness but, according to Sam Allardyce, is still some distance away before he is considered fit enough for first team football.

The Huddersfield-born striker, who was recruited in the summer from his home-town club, has yet to be involved in any senior squads for his new club.

Bright things were expected from the youngster this term but a mystery virus prevented him from training earlier in the season.

However, he has now managed to get back onto the training field and has even featured in a couple of recent reserve matches. But his Wanderers boss still reckons it will take a few months before he is fit enough to be considered for Premiership action.

Allardyce said: "Delroy's still a few months away and it will be a while before he catches up with the rest of the squad. He needs to build up his strength.
