MRS Schlemer believes in myths like: only Americans work hard, and only the USA is overwhelmed by masses of desperate or fortune-seeking immigrants.

Like many others without valid arguments, she also hopes to score points by conjuring up the fully-automated scapegoat, Hitler. Should she really have no idea that her nation was founded on broken treaties, genocide, slavery and segregation, fuelled by the conviction of racial superiority, long before Hitler copied much of it?

And our own die-hards could perhaps enlighten us what British forces were actually doing during the Second World War, thousands of miles away in the Far East, at a time when the British Empire was still oppressing one-quarter of the world's population? And what has it done for our country? Are not today's English people powerless in their own lands, and is not the "Disunited Kingdom" tottering precariously?

And still they keep going to war! Any faked or provoked incident will do, or indeed genuine terrorism, which always seems to occur in ways not predicted by governments' soothsayers. Religiously-inclined readers may be curious enough to consult the ever topical Bible instead, in this case some verses from Hosea, Chapter 8.

But even those who are not interested to learn anything at all should keep sending in their letters. By flaunting ignorance, they too can further the cause of peace. Should the still mighty colossus on clay feet, however, decide once again against peace, cars might soon be running on blood instead of petrol, as it were.
