CHORLEY are set to sign the former Bury and Ipswich Town goalkeeper Lee Bracey in a £4,000 deal from Ossett Town.
Bracey played more than 250 games in the Football League in a career spanning 14 years.
The Barking-born player was a trainee with West Ham before moving to Swansea and then Halifax in 1991.
He was the Shakers' first choice keeper for three years from 1993. Ipswich signed him in a £40,000 deal in 1997 and he was at Portman Road for two seasons before signing for Hull City on a free in 1999. He was released from Hull at the end of the 2000-01 season.
Chorley assistant manager Wayne Goodison said the player was keen to come to Victory Park and Ossett, Chorley's UniBond first division rivals, were happy with an improved offer. The club rejected a lower offer made earlier this week.
The Magpies are also hoping to re-sign Danny Mills who left Chorley for Ossett in the summer but has been unable to command a regular place in the team.
Bracey is expected to sign tomorrow ahead of Chorley's match at Trafford on Saturday - but ex-Trafford boss Molyneaux, now manager at Chorley and the current first-choice goalkeeper, may not want to miss turning out against his old club.
