AN amateur Farnworth bodybuilder has won a place in the World Universe Championships by becoming British champion.
Kevin Alder, aged 38, who runs the Bodyzone Gym in Moses Gate won the super-heavyweight division of the Open British Championships in Haslingden and will now compete in Alicante, Spain at the end of the month in the World Amateur Bodybuilding Association's premier event.
But first he has another chance of glory this weekend when he competes in the English Physique Federation's World Championships in France.
Earlier this year, Kevin came second in the European Championships in Italy, an event he won in 1992.
In 16 years, he has won five British Championships and has finished fourth in the World Championships and 10th in the Universe event.
