MANCHESTER was due to link up with 21 local authorities across the UK today to plant thousands of yellow roses in the name of world peace.
Lord Mayor of Manchester Roy Walters was expected to join children to plant 70 flowers at the Peace Garden, St Peter's Square, Manchester.
It will be followed by a minute's silence. Dried rose petals will be thrown over the newly-planted bed.
The event has been organised by Phoenix World Peace 2000.
