A MAN found dead at his home with stab wounds is believed to have inflcited the injuries himself.
Paul McCarthy, aged 43, was found with multiple stab wounds at his four-bedroomed house in Morris Street, Tyldesley.
He was believed to be single and lived alone.
Police and paramedics were called to the house, behind the Somerfield supermarket, at 8pm on Monday. Officers cordoned off the area as an investigation began.
Today, police said a post mortem examination had ruled out suspicious circumstances and they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.
A spokesman said the matter had been reported to the coroner and an inquest was due to open this week.
It is thought Mr McCarthy had been dead since Sunday.
His home was sealed off as forensic experts searched for clues.
The rear patio doors of Mr McCarthy's home had also been damaged.
Mr McCarthy had moved in to the house two months ago. It is believed his brother raised the alarm after discovering him.
