SMALL Business Minister Nigel Griffiths has launched a new on-line service to help thousands of young people start their own business.

Mr Griffiths also outlined £345,000 in funding for business start-up packs for 100,000 budding young business people.

The LiveWIRE website will provide advice for prospective entrepreneurs in the 16 to 30 age group.

The interactive site covers all of the essential stages in starting up and developing a new business, from identifying a business idea and producing a business plan, to information on raising finance and exporting.

Nigel Griffiths said: "The Shell LiveWIRE scheme has already helped over 450,000 young people get information on running a business and this website will build upon that impressive figure.

"Today's young entrepreneurs are the economic dynamos of tomorrow.

"That's why the DTI has invested £1.7m into the Shell Technology Enterprise Programme (STEP) as well as £345,000 funding to support

the LiveWIRE hotline service and business kits."
