A MAN who suffered from severe depression and had physical and learning disabilities was found face down on a duvet at a social services residential home in Bolton.
An inquest heard that Roy Clarke, aged 44, died suddenly from natural causes. It is believed he could have suffered from an interrupted heart rhythm.
Mr Clarke died despite attempts by staff at the social services home to revive him.
The incident happened on April 11 at the Bolton Council care home on Bailey Lane, Breightmet.
Coroner Mrs Jennifer Leeming recorded a verdict that Mr Clarke died from "unascertained natural causes".
Pathologist Dr Isobel Hanson was unable to discover why Mr Clarke had died. She said: "There are a certain number of deaths each year where we simply cannot identify the cause."
Mr Clarke's family told the inquest that he was unable to speak and had sight problems.
Staff at the home described him as a "gentle giant" who was well liked.
Bolton coroner Jen Leeming said that it was possible he had suffered an irregular heart pattern which would have caused his death and which would not have shown up on a post mortem examination.
