A NEW face is needed to represent Belmont on North Turton Parish Council.
Violet Pope announced her retirement in August after two years as a Belmont parish councillor, but, so far, there has been only one application for the vacancy, prompting council chiefs to launch an appeal for help.
Chairman David Holden said an application was received at the council's monthly meeting at the Barlow Institute, Bolton Road, Edgworth.
It will be considered by parish councillors at their next meeting next month. A vote will be taken if more than one person runs for nomination.
Cllr Holden added: "We have put up notices but there has not been much interest as yet. The parish council is a very important tier of local government.
"Planning matters are an important aspect but candidates would have to actively work for the good of the community."
Anyone interested should contact Cllr Holden on 01204 852706.
