DUNSCAR won the Jack Taylor Trophy final by the closest of margins with a 3-2 scoreline after a titanic struggle with Hindley Hall at Old Links on Sunday.
Hindley Hall beat Harwood 3-2 in a rearranged sem-final the previous day to set up the clash with old rivals Dunscar, in the lastcompetition on the BGA calendar.
The opening four games saw the two clubs locked together before the north Bolton club grabbed the decider. The key game. however, proved to be the first doubles out, where Dunscar's Adam Whalley and Andy Taylor fought back from two down with three to play to beat Lee davies and Joe Pearson on the 19th hole.
In the other games (Dunscar names first) Steve Greenhalgh & Jim Callaghan lost to Tim Philbin & Chris McKenna by two holes; Mark Riley & Paul Borek beat Alan Pomfret & Nicky Hibbs 3 and 2; Neil Hazzleton & Trevor Barber lost to Phil Johnson & Nick Philbin 5 and 4; Mathew Walsh & Kevan Marden beat Simon Crompton & Mick Murrell 3 and 2.
