A SCHEME to help mums and dads get access to training for work, parenting and household skills in Little Hulton has been given funding by the Government.
Officials in the area had been anxiously waiting for news for the last few weeks, fearing that they might miss out on cash to support the Sure Start programme.
Now the Government has decided that Little Hulton will be the next and last area in Salford to get the funding following a successful bid by the council.
Sure Start is aimed at children aged up to four-years-old and their families and several successful projects are already up and running in the Bolton and Salford areas. Spurgeons Child Care, the children's charity, will be the lead agency running the Little Hulton Sure Start in partnership with other groups.
The charity is now holding an open day at St Paul's Peel Hall in Little Hulton on Wednesday, November 20, from 12 noon to 3pm.
Janet Battye, regional director of Spurgeons, said: "This is an opportunity for parents and carers to sample Sure Start's services including wellbeing sessions for mothers. There will be play opportunities for children and lots of fun activities as well as a chance for parents to have their say on what they want to see."
For further details ring Janet Battye or Mike Hall on 0161 736 8991.
