A BURIAL site used to dispose of thousands of animal carcasses in last year's foot and mouth epidemic will be transformed into a beauty spot.
Nearly 500,000 animals were buried at the former Great Orton airfield, near Carlisle, which was the first site used during the outbreak.
The Department of the Environment has announced that it wants to change it into a nature reserve and is planning an open day on November 13 about the plans.
