POLICE are appealing for information about a stolen car found burned out in Bolton which may have been used in an attempted armed robbery.
The blue Ford Mondeo, registration W343 OCU, which had been stolen from Market Street in Bolton on Monday, was discovered on the Raikes Clough industrial estate at about 5.50pm yesterday.
It is believed that the car may be linked to an incident at Darcy Lever Post Office earlier in the day.
Just after 11.30am two men wearing balaclavas and one armed with a handgun, ran into the post office on Radcliffe Road and demanded cash.
The postmistress locked herself into a safe room and the men ran out empty handed.
Both men were white, in their late teens or early 20s, around 5ft 10in tall and wearing blue tracksuit bottoms.
Anyone with information should call Astley Bridge CID on 0161 856 5740 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
