THE winner of Greater Manchester Police's Young Citizen of the Year award will be announced this week.
Eleven youngsters -- including Brett Ratcliffe, aged 13, from Westhoughton and Jon Paul Entwistle, aged 12, from Bury -- will go head-to-head at Friday's awards ceremony.
The event is organised to acknowledge young people who give up their time to help the local community.
The winner will receive £1,000 for a charity or community initiative, a £1,000 holiday voucher with £1,000 spending money, and a VIP day out at Manchester United football club.
All 11 finalists receive a cheque for £100 for a charity or community initiative.

PC Phil Gleave from GMP's Community Affairs Branch said: "All of the 11 finalists are worthy winners."
