AFTER I did an article on Stephen Blair and the money he left for a hospital in Bolton (Blair Hospital in Bromley Cross), I received a message from Sean Baggaley, Keeper of Social History at Bolton Museum and Art Gallery.
In the article I mentioned that during the First World War, the hospital was used to house casualties, and Sean tells me that several of the wounded were encouraged by Nurse Isherwood (who was at the hospital throughout the war) to contribute poems or sketches to an autograph book now in the museum's collections.
Many of the pages of the book have been scanned as part of a Treasures in Trust digitisation project, and should all be available on a new website planned for launching next year.
