ON Saturday, 10 August, (with a picture the previous Tuesday), I told you about Etchell's shop on Bradshawgate which stood on the site where the Lido cinema opened in 1937.
"I am the great great grandson of Henry Etchells who had the shop," writes Trevor Etchells. "My Mum Connie is at this moment compiling the family history of the Etchells' name. I think the first Etchells to arrive in this country were Flemish weavers - this may explain the cloth and dying link (the shop was also a dye works). If Henry accumulated vast wealth from the shop he didn't pass it on to us!"
Mr Etchells would like to know if there are any other Etchells in the area that perhaps they do not know about.
If so, you can contact him at 112, Sandalwood, Westhoughton, BL5 2RQ
