MOMENTS from the history of Bolton Wanderers feature in a new exhibition coming to town.

Photographs ranging from the stunning architecture of the Reebok Stadium to fans enjoying the atmosphere of the old Burnden Park ground are among more than 100 images captured on film by Stuart Clarke.

Memories will come flooding back to fans in The Homes of Football exhibition at Bolton Museum and Art Gallery, which opens on Friday and runs until January 11.

Perhaps more nostalgic than the action taking place on the pitch, are the images of the supporters, the football backroom staff and even the hot dog stalls.

Stuart's work, the longest running touring exhibition in the world, has been on the road for almost 10 years and Bolton is its 70th venue.

His work features every club in the two main English leagues. However, he was in many ways inspired by Bolton Wanderers.

He said: "I have always been mad about football. But, where my work is concerned, Bolton has stayed dear to me because of the Lowry painting of Wanderers supporters called 'Going to the Match'. His painting was a starting point. I would look at it and want to put the faces to his matchstick figures." Stuart singles out Bolton's Reebok Stadium as one of his favourite new grounds.

During the exhibition, a television will replay highlights from Wanderers matches and the replica FA Cup presented to the town in 1923 has been loaned by Bolton Council.
