IN December, 1938, the Minister of Transport, Mr Leslie Burgin, planted a tree at Temple Bridge on the Moss Bank Way part of Bolton's new ring road, to commemorate the opening.
The Town Clerk, Sir John Haslam, MP, and Ald. Knott, were also in the picture.
