From the Evening News, July 19, 1992 - BOLTON viewers have backed the critics in their near unanimous verdict that the BBC's new soap Eldorado is a flop.

A mini-survey in the town centre showed that viewers thought the show "over-hyped" and a waste of licence money. On Oracle poll at the beginning of last week found that the majority of people thought the £10 million show "rubbish" and wouldn't be watching it again.

MR John Coop lives at 135 Weston-street, Bolton. He is a typical Lancashire lad, and was born in Bolton. His family has lived here for over forty years, so it is quite safe to say that he is well known locally.

"For nearly two years," he said, "I suffered from backache and kidney disorder. The kidney secretions were thick, and sometimes left a sediment behind, besides giving me a good deal of trouble. I saw an advertisement for Doan's Backache Kidney Pills, so I went to Waller and Riley's and got some. They gave me immediate relief."

The above statement was given by Mr Coop two and a half years ago. He has now something to add. "The same statement stands today," he says. "I always keep Doan's Backache Kidney Pills by me, and if ever I have a slight return of the old trouble they put me right immediately. I would not be without them for anything."
